Lecture Notes 11: Direct-Sequence Spread-Spectrum Modulation
ثبت نشده
چکیده
In this lecture we consider direct-sequence spread-spectrum systems. Unlike frequency-hopping, a direct-sequence signal occupies the entire bandwidth continuously. The signal is obtained by starting with a narrowband signal and directly modulating a high bandwidth signal. As with frequency hopping direct-sequence has advantages when the channel contains a jamming like signal. The jamming could be intentional and hostile, self jamming (multipath), and multiuser jamming. In the remained of this chapter we examine the capabilities of direct-sequence is these three environments. Below we show the transmitter and receiver for a direct-sequence system. The data sequence b t consists of a sequence of data bits of duration T . The data sequence is multiplied with a binary spreading sequence a t which has N components called chips per data bit.

Design of a High Range, High Efficiency Spread Spectrum Transmitter for Audio Communication Applications
This work proposes a direct sequence spread spectrum transmitter with high transmission range and efficiency for audio signals. It is shown that by choosing high process gain for spread spectrum signal the data could reach a range of 55km in the 2.4GHz ISM band. By employing a light modulation scheme, we have a relaxed SNR requirement for having a low bit error rate (BER) which translates to re...
متن کاملA Modified Direct-sequence Spread Spectrum Modulation Scheme for Burst Transmissions
The Direct-Sequence Spread Spectrum modulation (DSSS) is a very attractive modulation technique for military communication systems, mainly due to its resistance to interference and low probability of detection. However, the synchronisation to the spreading code phase in the receiver takes time, which makes this technique less interesting for sending very short messages. In this paper a novel di...
متن کاملAnalysis of Direct Sequence and Chirp Spread Spectrum over Flat Fading Channel for Multiple Access
This paper compares the performance of phased chirp spread spectrum and direct sequence spread spectrum technique for multiple access over different fading channels. The direct sequence spread spectrum technique is motivated by the inherent interference rejection capability of such spread-spectrum type system, especially in circumstances where immunity against Doppler shift and fading due to mu...

In this paper, different methods of modulation technique applicable in data transferring system over distribution line carries (DLC) system is investigated. Two type of modulation –analogue and digital – is evaluated completely. Different digital techniques such as direct-sequence spread spectrum (DSSS), Frequency-hopping spread spectrum (FHSS), time-hopping spread spectrum (THSS), and chirp sp...
متن کاملMultiple access performance in UWB systems using time hopping vs. direct sequence spreading
Ultra-wideband radio systems operate using extremely short duration signaling pulses. Spread spectrum techniques for multiple access and interference suppression are commonly considered for such systems. We compare time-hopping spread spectrum with pulse position modulation (TH-PPM) and timehopping/direct-sequence spreading with antipodal signaling (TH/DS-BPSK) in terms of their multiple access...
